Do I need a doctor to order?
No. You can order the GI-MAP™ test directly through our website without a doctor's referral. However, we strongly recommend working with a qualified healthcare practitioner — such as a naturopath, functional medicine doctor, or integrative health provider — to interpret your results and develop a personalized treatment protocol.
How long does it take to get results?
After the lab receives your sample, results are typically available within 7-9 business days. Total timeline from order to results is approximately 2-3 weeks, accounting for shipping both ways and lab processing time.
What conditions can the GI-MAP™ help identify?
The GI-MAP™ reports selected microbial DNA targets and intestinal-health markers. These findings may inform a clinical assessment, but the panel does not by itself diagnose IBS, SIBO, food sensitivities or autoimmune disease, or establish the cause of fatigue, skin symptoms or digestive complaints. Discuss persistent symptoms and appropriate testing with a licensed healthcare professional.
How is the GI-MAP™ different from a regular stool test?
Conventional stool cultures require organisms to be alive and culturable, missing many pathogens. The GI-MAP™ uses qPCR DNA technology that detects organisms at the DNA level — even dead organisms or those in very low quantities. This means significantly higher detection rates for pathogens, parasites, and other organisms that conventional tests often miss.
Is the collection process difficult?
Not at all. Your kit includes clear step-by-step instructions and all the collection supplies you need. The process takes just a few minutes and can be done in complete privacy at home. The collection vial contains a preservative that keeps your sample stable for up to 7 days at room temperature.
How long is my test kit good for?
For orders placed on or after October 7, 2026 (Vancouver time), collect and dispatch your sample within 180 calendar days after your kit and required instructions/requisition have been delivered, whichever is later. DUTCH Cycle Mapping and Cycle Mapping Plus allow 270 days. For HTMA without a shipped kit, the 180 days start when the complete instructions and usable submission form are delivered. Existing purchases retain their original terms. Printed material expiry dates and laboratory sample-handling requirements still apply.
What is Zonulin and should I add it?
Zonulin is a protein that regulates intestinal permeability (the tight junctions between gut cells). Elevated zonulin levels indicate "leaky gut," which has been linked to autoimmune conditions, food sensitivities, and chronic inflammation. We recommend adding Zonulin if you suspect leaky gut, have autoimmune conditions, or experience food sensitivities.
